What are the top 3 traits or skills every software engineer must have to excel? Can you suggest any tips or insights to develop your software engineer expertise? |

I'm glad to see how we think. Programming, designing, architecture are all art-forms. The field is full of new things happening all the time - what fun! |

I sincerely wonder why people keep talking about H1B visa? Can someone educate me here? I don't get it. I have seen and worked with a lot more American engineers than non-US developers throughout 6 years of service. I mean, yes, I do see many Indian developers around but they are not overtaking the whole country!! And also, I see a lot more American IT managers around. To answer the original question, I would say "it really depends on what you want to do." Do you want to develop web applications? Then, Ruby on Rails and ASP.Net would be great choices. If you want to do more of backend stuff, .Net and Java would do. Java would be useful, if you are interested in doing open source projects. In order for one to be excel in software development field is, however, 1. Ability to see big pictures
The game is NOT about the technology you are using, it's about your intellectual capability. |
