Share your experiences as a SW engineer:

What are some of the difficulties?

Would you get fired if you tried to preach your religion? If you refused to look at faces when talking because of religious concerns (don't want to be tempted) And if you openly preached no salvation outside of your Church (saying that all good-willed people will convert either naturally or supernaturally?)

I am curious about software engineering, too. What are the educational requirements? I lost my job due to the economy and planning to go back to school in the spring. I'm considering studying computer info. systems; would this be a good base degree to get into software engineering? What is a typical starting salary and are the jobs as plentiful as, say, networking type of positions?
