The top 3 traits or skills you must have to succeed as a sourcing manager include 1)the ability to work cross functionally within an organization-meaning being able to impact and influence other mangement teams that do not report to you, using fact based analysis. 2) Resiliency- you have to do your homework, understand the business needs and be able to articulate how the value of your sourcing recommendations and decisions
will benefit the business or organization. 3) a strong overall knowledge of manufacturing and if you are sourcing for a retail orgnization, then also the understanding of the retail complexities as well.
