I work at an athletic club that has very high profile members as a spa desk associate and one of the best qualities you can have is to obtain a massage therapy license, an estheticians license, or to be a licensed nail tech. It also helps to have some sort of bachelor's degree but some places do not require it. Be prepared to be the ear of a lot of gossip.

Oh and it's also very important to be able to balance the appointments with what the clients want but also what the therapists want to book. It's a good thing to know exactly what every therapist does be it the massage therapists, the estheticians or the nail techs. Also be very aware of the procedure for the appointments as this is a really good gauge of time management.
