Anyone know what is the reality for court interpreters in the Eastern US?

Specifically states like Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland. Like how much work is really there if you get certified. I know PA has staff interpreters that get paid around 30K. Is there really a demand for freelance certified interpreters and what can I expect in terms of earnings?
