Special Education jobs

sped in Chester, Maryland said: What are the odds of finding a special education position just outside the Boston, MASS area. I have 16 yrs teaching experience and 7 of them are in special ed? I'm especially interested in the Newburyport area.

have a masters in sped & bachelor in vocational
have 6 years of teaching sped & 5 years vocational
am 60 years old
I am finding it very hard to get an interview & when i do they usually find someone who better fits their needs. I think age, 11 years of teaching experience plus the cost to hire me have all been a barrier.

I was not offered a contract to return to my most recent job where i had been employed for 5 years, it was a budget cut where they used an evaluation review as a way to go about removing me, my position was not refilled, the 3 other teachers carried on with a reduced student number.

I do not know what the job market is like in the rest of the country, but sped jobs usually open up.

I am a special education teacher with 15 years of experience. I am searching for a teaching position in a public or private school in the Roanoke,VA area.
