What do you enjoy most about being a substitute teacher? What do you dislike the most? Is it challenging? Are there many opportunities to learn and advance? What keeps you at your job? |

I find that I enjoy the idea of starting fresh everyday when I substitute teach. I am a new teacher, so I enjoy the opportunities to learn and apply different strategies that I've learned in my college courses, without having to worry about things going wrong (because I know I will be somewhere new tomorrow). The thing I dislike about subbing is not knowing anything when you arrive in a room. You don't know the students, the routines, (sometimes even the school). It is even harder when the other staff members don't support you or the students give you a hard time. My ultimate goal is to have my own classroom. So right now, I know that every day that I sub brings me one step closer. It gives me the experience to succeed in my own classroom and gives me ideas I need for when that day finally arrives. And even though I'd rather have my own class, subbing is not a bad job, so I don't worry too much! :) |
