I am in trying to decide which program I should pursue, LVN or Surgical Tech. I currently have my bachelor's in Management degree and worked in IT for 10 years, but was recently layed off...hence the career change. Any advice from anyone who has experience in either or both fields? Specifically, the job descriptions, pay, job growth, etc. Thanks. |

I'm currently in an LVN program and I can tell you that there's alot more job oppourtunity as an LVN then a surg tech. I was told and also read that surgical centers prefer to hire LVN's rather than surg-techs as LVN's know how to assess patients and learned the long process of critical thinking. Also the LVN would be more beneficial for pre-op and post-op of patients. I hope this helps. |

Since you are in California i would say go for the LVN but its not like one is worse then the other so it really depends on the person. |
