I have currently applied for a management position in my current institution. This position was recently created (10 mos. ago) and the person currently holding it didn't do much with it. I have interviewed with 2 separate committees and 7 weeks have passed. At the 11th hour, I was told that management wants to go in a different direction (surprise)! The surgical tech where I work still have no one to listen, possibly speak for them if they are not strong enough to do so, fight for their dues and all around supplying them with the support they need. I am currently working on an outline to present at a meeting the powers that be called for next week (week of May 18) fighting not only for the position but for my taking over. I am looking to correspond with anyone who currently works in a Level 1 trauma center with approx.40 OR's. I am wanting to hear how other institutions support their techs and the hierarchy involved. Please feel free to contact my E-mail address at sswider@rochester.rr.com. I appreciate any feedback that may support this position in my institution. Thanks in advance

I am originally from NYC, and that is where 7 out of my 8 years of experience were acquired. I recently relocated to Birmingham,AL and the scope of practice is so very different down here. I find it extremely frustrating. Can anyone else empathize with my dilemma? |
