I just graduated from a Surgical Technology program. I'm 5'0. It can be challenging at times, but most places offer stepping stools for the vertically challenged. The only thing you have to watch out for is staying sterile and keeping things at a sterile level for you, and you learn that with experience. My height isn't too much of a burden. Don't let it stop you.

A girl that is in my class and is currently in clinicals I beleive she was 4'10"? You will have to use steps, actually I am 5' 6" and I have used a step. So nobody is of perfect height. Good luck

Not at all. Why? Because all surgical suite have steps to stack for your height to match that #1 person inthe OR and that's the surgeon. The OR tables raise and lower also but that's not to accomondate your needs, it's again for the #1 person in the OR and that's the surgeon. Yes,it's not and never has been a problem with the smaller scaled Techs, it's been a big problem for the taller Tech's who are scrubbing in cases where the Doc's are smaller and crabbing about stepping up to a taller table to do their surgery.
I hope that this helps. All the best, and enjoy you new career.

Tall people actually have the disadvantage working in surgery, there are step ups that are used for short people which at times can not always be found for these mixed height combinations of people.
