Do you have any tips to help prepare for an upcoming system administrator interview? Are there common interview questions that come up again and again? |

How do you know your windows server or your exchange server working well? How do you know how many connections your server have now? These are two of my interview questions. |

Hi,
if the share permission is change and security is read then user permission for that folder will be read only. if the share permission is read and security is write ,then also user will be having read only permission coz here read only is the least permission. |

I am curious why so many specific technical questions? Is it required that we don't use google now? If you work in any IT environment you will eventually come to a problem you have never encountered or has been awhile since you will have encountered. To me, you would want someone with character and personality. A person that can get a long with others in your team and may even be an unofficial leader of the group. Just my two cents and curious as to hiring managers views on the subject. |

I think what's important, to LSUMarkb's point, is the ability for the candidate to find the solution using all available tools. That being said, anyone can Google and copy and paste. You need someone who understands systems and can break apart a problem to find the real cause, not waste hours on unrelated fluff. Be prepared for any number of one-off strange technical questions about any number of topics. If you don't know the answer, explain how you would find it. Be detailed about steps you would take. Another type of question, if you're going for a more senior role, or a systems engineer role, will be how you'd solve a particular problem. This may not be as technical, per se, but a probe into your project management and problem solving skills. |
