What are typical tig welder salaries? Do some companies pay a lot more for this position than others? What does a top earner make in this field?

If you're working in a job shop it's really hard to say but sometimes you can get $20 an hour. I have also seen shops pay $14 an hour for tig hands. I only work industrial jobs and won't strike an arc for less than $22 an hour and $50 a day per diem with at least 60 hours a week.

Your hourly rate depends on what industry youre working with and in what country or sea platform youre at.
The lowest pay that i've known so far is in retail and the highest is in oil industry. The more profitable the company youre at, the more $$$ they can give you(its not always true for some).

Skill to increase salary?

Not skills, but attitude. We've got a lot excellent welders out there. Man they can weld with their eyes shut, uphand while hanging upside down on a bungee rope. But he was fired. Always late, never shows up, and smoked too much weed at work.
If you got the right attitude towards work, people appreciates it and the company will reward that if they consider you an asset. Improve yourself in quality and productivity.

It's about 30$ an hour and over time is double time.

I am a member of a pipefitters union. I make at least $36 per hour Plus a $3 vacation pay per hour with full benefits.
