What are the top 3 traits or skills every tig welder must have to excel? Can you suggest any tips or insights to develop your tig welder expertise? |

Steady hand, cordination and creativity. The best advice I can give you is to start out with the worst tig welding machine in the shop, then there are no surprises. |

By never being afraid to ask questions is one. Be open to any suggestions other welders offer you. You'll learn a tremendous amount this way. Even the worst welder can teach you something of value. Willing to rigorously apply yourself with what you learned along with the understanding that to learn this skill will take sometime are key traits to being a welder. I believe my welding abilities are based solely from those three things. I look at myself not as a great welder, but as all those welders I've meet along the way who took the time to teach me this great trade, all in one welder. Jim Knox my foreman at the time said to me one day when I was having difficulties with a part, he says to me "Mike, you'll never become a good welder if everything was perfect." I value those words even today. -Approach with Diligence- |
