Do some companies pay a lot more for this position than others? What does a top earner make in this field? What skills should you learn to increase your salary? |

Unfortunately they are not what they were 10 years ago. The transportation supervisor has been renamed many times by 3PL's to water down the price they have to pay employees. What once was a 50k year job can now be as low as 30K. How do I know? I've done it. Over and over and over again. We glean what knowlede we can from the experienced supervisors, restructure to make them miserable and hire a newbe. But lets face it. You have just gone to college for four years to learn how to baby sit. How much do you expect to make. Communication and accountability and the ability to motivate others are the key. Demonstrate that you can do all three and command no less than 50k to start. Experienced supervisors should expect from 64k to 75K. If you hae exceptional talent and experience you should be shooting for management 90k to 110k. If you take less you better be reciving a piece of the company, full paid benefits or a huge bonus, but get it all in writing especailly from a 3PL. Don't believe their self imposed heirarchy, every head is paid for in some part by their customers. If you take the standard offer their 30% margin is built in on top of the lap top and phone they will give you. Never take the first offer - know the "position" you are being hired for. If you don;t get a contract konw you can be let go on any given day - nothing is guaranteed. |

I came in the office around 7 am and never left before 9 pm. I not only made sure that my reports were up to date, but I also made sure that all 15 of my reports, 3 of them supervisors, did their job before they left for the day. My cell. phone number was on all of the LTL carriers BOL's, therefore assuring that if there were any after hour delivery issues, they called me. My wife almost divorced me. |
