Hi everyone,

I've been accepted into the Kaiser sonography program in Richmond, CA. I'm excited but know it's impossible if I don't have funding. Talking to their finaid office didn't yield much help. I tried the FAFSA route but Kaiser does not have a federal school code. Without federal aid, I thought of private school loans but many banks I've asked will not issue a loan for a non-title IV program.

Besides scholarships, is my only option private personal loans? I need something deferred while in school but personal loans require immediate monthly payments it seems. Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much.

hoapres,

Thank you! I neglected to mention that I already knew about the KP School of Allied Health Sciences (KPSAHS) Student Aid Program. I will definitely be applying but the loan maximum is only $5,000.

Your link did help me discover the Kaiser Permanente Allied Health Care Education Scholarship Program though. I will have to apply to that too and cross my fingers.

Thanks once again. Any further guidance is greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the advice hoapres. I just got my bachelor's degree in psychology from a state school. My sister is an RN and was the one who introduced me to the sonography program. I thought the hard part was getting into the program but now realized (much belatedly) that the real dilemma is affording it. I am still kicking myself for banking on federal aid when it wasn't an option from the beginning. I'll follow up on your suggestion to inquire with Kaiser though.
