Resemble Nothing in Portland, Oregon

Hello,
I currently live in Portland,Oregon and there isn't one single accredited sonography program in the entire state and the closest one is a few hours away in Washington which isn't feasible at this time. Moving is not an option for me so my only other route to get this done is online. On the caahep website it lists Jackson community college sonography program as accredited as a distance education program so that sounds good. After checking out the website I found out you need about 30 preqs which I will have pretty soon and then you take the rest of the classes online at 200 dollars a credit hour which is way cheaper than MSU 495 a credit hour so I am intrigued, I already have a clinical site here in Portland willing to host me ( I work at the hospital and got approval) I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with the program because I can't find any information online. Any real comments will be appreciated , and snarky ones will be ignored , I've already spoken to the head of HR at my current job who let me know that as long as i'm registered with at minimum an associates she could care less where I graduated they really need sonographers. I'm just looking for people that have been through it for some insight. Thanks.

Ive heard good things about jacksons program, during my internship two of the sonographers that taught me graduated from there. I would contact them directly and discuss your clinical situation. I am not sure on out of state internships. Hope this helps.

Jessica,
Can you tell me what your experience has been like? Since you're in TN, I assume you're doing the online. Was it tough to find a clinical site? Which specialty are you? How difficult was getting accepted and getting everything going? Pros? Cons? Any info would be GREATLY appreciated. THanks!

So far I really like the program, yes I am doing it online but all the insturctors are very nice and most will do video chat if you need help with something. Finding a clinical site is tough espically if there is a larger university close to you, but I managed to find one in my hometown which is rather small and the offered to sponsor me. If you find your own clinical site you are automatically accepted because the school does not have to give you one of there spots :) it was a long but easy process. The only except about 20-25 students a year because they only have that many clinical spots. I really don't have any cons about the program so far, everyone seems friendly and really helpful from my advisor to my clinical advisor, If you need more information let me know, check out the website and call them if you have any questions I called a lot with questions at first and they answered them all :) good luck!!
