Are jobs in this industry on the rise? Are there any sub-sectors that are growing?

Where are the jobs? Which places have the most valet parking attendant opportunities?

The hospitality sector which is part of the parking industry, is rebounding faster than other sectors of the economy, as of now, and there are many opportunities for the right type of person in the Parking industry to be valet attendants, especially at hotels and resorts.

If you are a great customer service person, in reasonably good shape, like the outdoors, can drive a stick shift vehicle, have flexibility in your work schedule, valet parking at hotels may be a good fit for you.

Most of those jobs are handled by third party companies like ours, Minuteman Parking Company, located in southern California and Seattle, WA but there are other valet companies like ours in every large city or tourist area.

The positions pays a base of minimum wage in most companies, but at the right property, such as a high end hotel, you can make an additional $4 to $8 an hour or more by providing excellent customer service. It is usually a part time position, getting up to 30 hours weekly, but many people in the industry work two jobs or work events to get the hours they need.

Valet parking can be an excellent, flexible, and well paying job while in college. For a really good valet with management potential, it can be a path to a career in supervision or management. Most of the current managers in our company and industry did not see valet work as their final industry of choice, but really liked it once they experienced it and decided to stay and make it their career, working their way up into management. The owner of our company started out that way.
