Hello everybody
I want to know if any of you is a Carrington College veterinary technology graduate.

Is the program well prepared for national and state exam?
How is the externship?
Do you have difficulty finding work after graduation?

Since the program is expensive, I need to know these information. Thank you.

I did check this school, and it seems like students have bad experience with other fields but Vet Tech. I do need to know more information.

What I want to know now is the job prospect of this field.

The only community college close to my place that offers the program is Foothill College. But it is too far from where I live, not mentioning toll fee.

I understand what you say. If it takes me 10 years to pay off my loan, I'm willing to take the risk. The question is how the job market for vet technicians is. Jobs won't fall on me from the sky, but I need to know if I can be as marketable as registered nurses. Do you know how job openings are? Thank you

Graduate Employment Rate for Veterinary Technology from Carrington College California in 2011 was 92.94%. This is calculated between 7/1/10 and 6/30/11 reported being employed in their field of study (or closely related field).

You can also check out the Department of Consumer Affairs Veterinary Medical Board & Registered Vet Tech school exam results here www.vmb.ca.gov/applicants/rvtexam2011.pdf
to see how other schools stack up.

Hope this helps, let us know if you have any other questions.

Contact the college directly and ask some specific questions:

What is their pass rate on the state exam?
What percentage of their students complete the program in a timely fashion (2-3 years)?
What percentage of students have a job 3 months after they graduate?
What percentage of students drop out of the program?

They are required to keep these statistics for their AVMA accreditation so they should be able to answer these questions. And the answers can help you determine if the program really prepares people.

And don't forget to contact the local veterinary technician association because they will have more experience with the different schools and can give you a better feel for the schools you are interested in.
