I have been doing video editing for the last two years, and I wanted to know how I should go about obtaining a job in the field. I have done some freelance work for small companies, but I want more consistent work so I can begin working as a video editor full time. I am doing an internship this summer at a local news station, but I do not know where to go from there. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Gaining experience via internship and/or freelance work is very important and it seems like you are doing that so, you are on the right track. Next, I suggest you put together a Demo Reel, (no more than 90 seconds in length) and post it everywhere you can. Finally, invest in yourself, in other words experiment and develop your skills and find your own unique style.

Good Luck!
Tony
