I'm moving to Vancouver some time this summer and will be looking at waitressing jobs. Do you think it would be better to go at the end of July or the end of August (when there are much cheaper flights?) I've heard that when it nears September it's tougher to get jobs since the students come back.

Your best bet is to hit them up at the end of July, because most restaurants will have a number of servers that are planning to leave for school as soon as it starts, so it's better to be there before the servers have left & a new batch of local students are looking for a job to take on during the semester.
