So you are thinking about a career in the field of Radiology. This career path requires a high level of education and specialized training to be successful. A Bachelors degree or at the minimum an Associates degree should be your starting point. I would suggest a Medical Assistant back ground with additional training in all areas of Radiology. Avoid taking short cuts as they will only guarantee you failure. Seek out reputable schools to receive your training. Radiology Tech "Mills" have created more disappointed graduates than anything else. Radiology is a competitive field and requires an individual that is willing to go the distance. Simply getting trained to operate the equipment and receiving a certificate is not enough today. You can waste a lot of time and money on a big dream that will never happen for you unless you bite the bullet and get a degree. Certificate programs are great for those who have started with a basic degree or who are looking to their "Tool Box"; something to make them more desirable in a competitive market place. Certificate "Mills" should be reformed to only accept students who have a degree already; similar to the way an MBA program works. If you are thinking about leaving your job at Pep Boys, McDonalds, or the local grocery store to attend a certificate only program you may want to rethink your plans. Unless of course you want to be the next burger flipper with a certificate in Radiology. Get the degree... |
