I received my training in another state and am nationally certified as an activities director. My company wants to train one of my assistants to be an activity director with the 90-hour state approved course. Where in the Cincinnati area is a course offered?
Thank you,

I am attending a course through my local community college. I would suggest that you go to the dept. of aging in your state/senior services to see if a class is held through the state or counties. i believe it is mandated in some states that you take the 90 hour course...Our's is currently a 72 hour course. Very worth it!
Hope this helps!!

Hi, I've been doing a little reading up on courses needed to be an Activities Director. I'm a little confused, do you need an Associates Degree and take the MEPAP I, II, III courses, or deo the courses 90hours+ qualify alone?

I don't have an answer for you. But a question for you, since you are an activities director. What is needed in addition to the 90-hour state approved course to become an Activities Director. I know it depends on your state, but is there a general course that is nationally approved, or do you need 2-yr of college as well as 90hours? I worked as an activities assistant a few yrs back for
10-months and LOVED IT!

I recently lost my job after 21 years working as an Act. Asst. and more recently as am Act. Director for a small Nursing Home in Ipswich, MA. The facility went out of business a few months ago. I have been Nationally Certified for 18 years. I am having difficulty finding an Activity Director job. The big corportations want Activity Directors with a degree. North Shore Community College offers a program Activity Specialist (Danvers campus.) Good Luck!
