Are jobs in this industry on the rise? Are there any sub-sectors that are growing?

Where are the jobs? Which places have the most adjunct faculty opportunities?

Students are dropping out of school back a few months ago as the result of high gas prices, as always there is the family hardships, and basically they can no longer qualify for the educational loans; because, federal loans are drying up, and banks are still not giving out very much money.

Technical schools are looking for people, but they have cut their salaries for the adjunct and there are many more adjunct jobs than before ... because they do not have to pay benefits or for holidays. YES, for a while the jobs were increasing, but there is a saturation point. More layoffs of professors, who are becoming adjuncts.

Community colleges never did pay very much, and they are having over qualified individuals apply in huge numbers. I do not ever remember seeing that before. Training is where the money is, but I would suggest that you take the company's classes on how to do training. The government contracts are very good pay, but they are a limited time. I received 500.oo a day, a phone, computer, a car, and, if I had to traveled any distance plane tickets were waiting and a hotel room. It was only six months, but I wss paid well. It was homeland security, but I had to learn on the job. You must get a security clearance to get the big bucks and there are many companies out there that you can find to do that.

On-line training is wide open and I enjoyed it, because I set it up to suit my schedule. I checked with the students about when discussion sessions were convenient to everyone.

Something to think about my friends.

Hi Catherine;

Thanks for the insight. I am an adjunct at GWU (DC) and NOVA - how did you break into government contract work? I have been curious.
