Administrative Assistant and typing speed

newbie in Fort Lauderdale, Florida

I am new to New York and about to start job hunting. My question is that are AA's tested on their typing speed. I have worked in the Legal Field as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal (glorified AA) and was never tested on my skills.

I realize that many jobs are advertised through recruiters and they give pre-employment tests. What can I expect from these tests? I am not the fastest typist and do not want that to hinder my chances from getting a position.

Some jobs posted I have seen stated a minimum typing speed and obviously those one I would not apply to, however, if a post does not specify a typing speed will I still be tested on it?
