My best advice for the group is smile a lot and when someone is talking look at them. ALWAYS look at the person that is talking. Pay attention to what everyone says. WHen people are talking they are watching EVERYONE and taking notes down the whole time. Stay on the subject be brief but witty! |
|
Tiffany in Los Gatos, California 5 months ago |
Oh ya and if you make it to the 1 on 1 just be yourself and be honest. Don't forget to smile. Good luck everyone!!!! Wish me luck fo panel on the 22nd. I want it soooo bad!! |

Dude, it is so f**** up! Only ATA people got hired, I talked to 8 people that got hired, and all of them were ATA ex-flight attendants and left with no job because their company went down. Me and 2 other friends were one of the few that made it to the second interview. WE did pass the first group interview. But honestly I feel that they were really really unfair about the whole equal opportunity bull. I know I did really good on the 1 on 1, but from the start of the interview it seemed that she did not care about me. I did not get hired. |

First of all I am former ATA and I was at the SEA interview and I did make it to panel which I have on the 22nd. My really good fiend who is an excellent f/a and former ATA did not make it. AND all the people that you claim to have gotten hired fom ATA are not hired yet they have simply just made it to panel. NOBODY is hired yet. Could it be that simply the people that made it to panel fom ATA just knew how to interview well and knew what to say? Before I was a f/a 10 years ago and I was interviewing I was turned down many places. Over the past 10 years I have gained knowledge and it has become easier to get a job in the industry. If I were you I would not post comment like what you have in a public forum. You never know who is looking at this. |

If I were you I would not post comment like what you have in a public forum. You never know who is looking at this. Just to inform you Tiffany, I do not care who is looking at this. I am sorry, let me rephrase that. 100 % of the people that people that are going to the panel were former Flight attendants from ATA. I have nothing against the people that made it to the panel. I am actually happy for them. I just saw it unfair that it seemed that they knew that we did not have a chance and still interviewed us.When I had my 1 on 1 interview, I felt as if she really didn't care about me. As in she knew already that I was not going to get to the panel. Just for your information Tiff ( I am not trying to put you on the spot, or like bash on you ), we were asked almost all the same questions. What do you think is the biggest misconception about you, if there is a intoxicated frequent flyer, and requested another drink, would you give it to him? Questions like that where I got the answers from flight attendants. I also over-heard that people with 10 years or less of cutomer service will not get hired. So if that is the case, why do they say only the minimun 2 years of experience? Out of me, my friend and another friend, None of us got in. |

Questions like that where I got the answers from flight attendants. Well, I was asked those questions and more. My one on one was with Betsy and it was about 25 minutes. As far as the 10 years or less not getting hired theory, that is wrong. I have met people that have way less then 10 years and were hired. I really think that you should care who is looking at this forum. If you are wanting to represent a company as reputable as Alaska you should act in a manner that in all aspects of your life you ahow respect and professionalism. I have met a few on my interview that have made it to the panel (in fact one really nice lady who gave me a ride to the airport in SEA) was not a fomer ATA f/a or even a former flight attendant for that matter. I am sure there are people who made it to panel at the Costa Mesa interview who are not former ATA people. |
|
Tiffany in Los Gatos, California 4 months ago |
Also, I do think that Alaska respects that ATA employees all feel that we were a family at ATA and the loyalty that we all felt towards ATA. They have said that to many former ATA employees. We all stuck it out until the bitter end and stayed loyal to ATA through everything and that is a huge deal to many companies. |

I, too, am a former ATA flight Attendant, and have been turned down by other airlines. Experience can be great, but it can be a rock around your neck. It depends on the airline hiring. Don't be so mad at the ATA FAs that were at the AS interview. Trust me, if they had had it their way, they (and I) would all STILL be flying for our company. It comes down to the vision the recruiters. Can they see YOU flying for them? If they can't then you don't. Simple. They also have a heightened sensenof smell. If they smell something cheesy, it's usually discarded as well. I wish you well, Ken, learn for your last interview. And stop blaming the ATA FAs. It's not their fault. Hey, Caesar. How's it going? |

Your son is graduating?! How exciting, and good luck to him. How was your interview? You're a saint for taking the grandmas. That's way I don't leave the state with mine, I'd put her out at the nearest Greyhound. lol. Hang in there. |

Yes, he is graduating...Interview, whether or not i get the jib..I have to say, It was the BEST airline interview i have expierenced..The recruiter are so relaxed and clm and most of all friendly and not intimidating...They, wanted you to be you...So, we're the f/a's that we're there from Alaska...Very nice girls. I have nothing bad to say...What's going on with you since the colapse of the empire?lol |

I have an interview with AMerican Eagle next week. so we'll see. They seem steady, and have good benefits, and Chicago is open so I'll give it my best shot, and pray. Unemployment stinks but it IS better than nothing. |

ATA F/A's are well known and respected in the industry, ATA was scheduled service and biggest military charter in the world, so they are experienced in both; charter can be tough, and they are a "can do bunch go anywhere anytime" no problem.
