its like various questions to see how well you can deal with different situations... like what would you do if you encounter a disgruntled passenger whos demanding and blah blah.. and if you had a passenger who appeared to be intoxicated and demanded another drink what would you do...... questions like that... its jus basically keeping the passengers in mind and their safety.. hehe

My best advice for the group is smile a lot and when someone is talking look at them. ALWAYS look at the person that is talking. Pay attention to what everyone says. WHen people are talking they are watching EVERYONE and taking notes down the whole time. Stay on the subject be brief but witty!

If yours is at 9 am then that means there is more than one group. Ours is at 1. Maybe because we are flying in from out of town.

Dude, it is so f**** up! Only ATA people got hired, I talked to 8 people that got hired, and all of them were ATA ex-flight attendants and left with no job because their company went down. Me and 2 other friends were one of the few that made it to the second interview. WE did pass the first group interview.

But honestly I feel that they were really really unfair about the whole equal opportunity bull. I know I did really good on the 1 on 1, but from the start of the interview it seemed that she did not care about me.

I did not get hired.

Well Ken I hate to tell you but you are WRONG. First of all I am former ATA and I was at the SEA interview and I did make it to panel which I have on the 22nd. My really good fiend who is an excellent f/a and former ATA did not make it. AND all the people that you claim to have gotten hired fom ATA are not hired yet they have simply just made it to panel. NOBODY is hired yet. Could it be that simply the people that made it to panel fom ATA just knew how to interview well and knew what to say? Before I was a f/a 10 years ago and I was interviewing I was turned down many places. Over the past 10 years I have gained knowledge and it has become easier to get a job in the industry. If I were you I would not post comment like what you have in a public forum. You never know who is looking at this.

Just to inform you Tiffany, I do not care who is looking at this. I am sorry, let me rephrase that. 100 % of the people that people that are going to the panel were former Flight attendants from ATA. I have nothing against the people that made it to the panel. I am actually happy for them. I just saw it unfair that it seemed that they knew that we did not have a chance and still interviewed us.When I had my 1 on 1 interview, I felt as if she really didn't care about me. As in she knew already that I was not going to get to the panel. Just for your information Tiff ( I am not trying to put you on the spot, or like bash on you ), we were asked almost all the same questions. What do you think is the biggest misconception about you, if there is a intoxicated frequent flyer, and requested another drink, would you give it to him? Questions like that where I got the answers from flight attendants.

I also over-heard that people with 10 years or less of cutomer service will not get hired. So if that is the case, why do they say only the minimun 2 years of experience?

Out of me, my friend and another friend, None of us got in.

Well, I was asked those questions and more. My one on one was with Betsy and it was about 25 minutes. As far as the 10 years or less not getting hired theory, that is wrong. I have met people that have way less then 10 years and were hired. I really think that you should care who is looking at this forum. If you are wanting to represent a company as reputable as Alaska you should act in a manner that in all aspects of your life you ahow respect and professionalism. I have met a few on my interview that have made it to the panel (in fact one really nice lady who gave me a ride to the airport in SEA) was not a fomer ATA f/a or even a former flight attendant for that matter. I am sure there are people who made it to panel at the Costa Mesa interview who are not former ATA people.

Also, I do think that Alaska respects that ATA employees all feel that we were a family at ATA and the loyalty that we all felt towards ATA. They have said that to many former ATA employees. We all stuck it out until the bitter end and stayed loyal to ATA through everything and that is a huge deal to many companies.

Hey Ken
WOW, Bro,,,Im surprised that you are writing this kinds of stuff...We all need a job as well as you.As well as all the other people who we're there in the group interview...I heard what you said...and yes, you we're very cool and had some great stories...Be proud of yourself that you made it that far..I and many other people have been turned away from other airlines. Experience doesn't mean we will get the job. Sometimes it works against you as well. So, be cool. And, don't blame a certain work group..That is not a fair or professional assumption...We all interviewed seperately and all had different answers and different personalities. I, can't say why? you or your friend did not got chosen. But, there we're alot of people who didnt get chosen. I as a matter of fact didn't know any of my former co-workers we're gonna show up.We all we're competing for the few slots that we're open. And, we all had to bring our A game to surface..Some of us made it to the next round and some of us didn't..It is just simply the way some of Interviewed.
I, wish you good luck in your future airline interviews. But, just remember. If you are going to continue to interview for other airlines. Use, the expierence you learned in the Alaska interview as a tool for the next interview..It was and is by far the best interview i have been to. I liked the relaxed atmosphere and friendly employees..And, be prepared to see other ex airline employees who will possible be there for the same job as you...Good Luck....Ken, if you need some assistance? I am willing to help you any way i can. Just ask?

I, too, am a former ATA flight Attendant, and have been turned down by other airlines. Experience can be great, but it can be a rock around your neck. It depends on the airline hiring. Don't be so mad at the ATA FAs that were at the AS interview. Trust me, if they had had it their way, they (and I) would all STILL be flying for our company.

It comes down to the vision the recruiters. Can they see YOU flying for them? If they can't then you don't. Simple. They also have a heightened sensenof smell. If they smell something cheesy, it's usually discarded as well.

I wish you well, Ken, learn for your last interview. And stop blaming the ATA FAs. It's not their fault.

Hey, Caesar. How's it going?

Hey, Caesar. How's it going?

Hey Kelly
Just got back to Az from L.A....Long drive brought the 2 grandmothers back for my son's H.S. graduation...And, they drove me NUTS!!!on the way back...Lot's of bathroom breaks :) and rest stops.I cut off their water supply..lol..A trip that would take me 5 1/2 hours took me 8 hours...So, i was just exhausted and it was very funny...It felt like a bad road trip with 2 old ladies...lol...

I have nothing bad to say...What's going on with you since the colapse of the empire?lol

Nothing really. Applying for FA jobs, applying for non-FA jobs. I have an interview with AMerican Eagle next week. so we'll see. They seem steady, and have good benefits, and Chicago is open so I'll give it my best shot, and pray. Unemployment stinks but it IS better than nothing.

ATA F/A's are well known and respected in the industry, ATA was scheduled service and biggest military charter in the world, so they are experienced in both; charter can be tough, and they are a "can do bunch go anywhere anytime" no problem.
They are heavy competition as they know their stuff well, and initial training was among the toughest in the industry;
They were loyal to the end and companies admire that, but also if you happen to be in initial training with them they will help you in any way they can.

hello Susie
I think the best advice to give you is be yourself and make sure you get involved with the activity they give you. Listen to everyone. I think they really want to see how you interact with your team. Don't be to bossy or talk over others and just be honest and yourself. Try and get to know your fellow recruits before you guys go in. Some of my fellow ATA crewmembers will be in that interview with you. You will be fine and you will be with great company! Let me know how it goes! Good Luck!!

Hi,
My family is very happy, how about yours? I wanted to talk to you, but they sent us off for durg testing and I was still in shock! I don't know how to get a forum up but I will ask my daughter if she can help, it would be fun to get to know some people before we go. Keep me posted if you find out anything. Have a great weekend. :)
