I would like to apply for contract attorney positions, including document review work. It is my understanding (I may be wrong) that placement agencies do not supply legal malpractice insurance, and the hiring law firms' insurance policies will not cover contract attorneys unless specifically named, especially for those future (tail) years when claims could still be filed. Is it reasonable to think that malpractice insurance coverage should be obtained as a prerequisite for contract work? If yes, any suggestions how it should be obtained?
