For those of you that are considering an exciting career as an automotive tech, please look at other career options! I have been working in this field for over 12 years and it has been pure misery. Toxic fumes and chemicals, asbestos(yes they still use it in brake pads), constant aches and pains that will get worse, nasty dirty filth everyday, hot as hell in the summer(seen many pass out), cold in the winter, and of course the great pay you will receive for all your hard work(sarcasm). The ones that claim to make 50K plus a year are either lying or very lucky. I am 32 years old and feel 60, and I am recovering from a serious injury from a severed tendon in my hand. I thought I would post this for the young guys thinking about doing this as a career. Take my advice and please look into something else. Go to college and work on your own cars as a hobby. I will be completing my bachelor's degree in the spring and I thank god I will never have to turn a wrench for a living again.
