I currently am in a software development internship and have a traditional engineering background. I enjoyed doing development, but I miss the analytical aspect of my last job and mixed responsibilities. I was considering the Business Analyst route, since it seems the work responsibilities vary between technical and non-technical.

I was wondering if anyone can provide pros/cons of the position? I've heard the position can have long work hours, but how common is it? What's it like being a liason between technical and non-technical co-workers? Are there other options for someone with technical analytical skills (ie. not sure if Systems Analyst or Data Analyst positions would be more suitable for me)?
