Do some companies pay a lot more for this position than others? What does a top earner make in this field?

What skills should you learn to increase your salary?

check multiple resources, such as the following

www.salary.com
www.indeed.com/salary
www.augi.com/surveys/default.asp?page=1016 (look for 2008 results within the next two months, currently 2002-2007 figures are available)

Don't expect to make too much in your first two years, just keep up with new software features, even if your current company isn't using it, as well as expanding your studies within your chosen industry.

okay, no I didn't muck up the link... I'm typing indeed dot come slash salary (which I LOVE as a resource) but, it's showing up as salary dot com instead? what's up with that?

I started at $13 working in an engineering department, then when I went to work for a subcontractor they paid me $20.
