Hi Ethyl,

Have you tried running an ad in the paper to work for yourself since you now have training. You can work as a "private sitter" for your clients. This will make you an independent care-taker, as you will be promoting yourself for cases that you can screen yourself.

It will possibly help to have great references incase, you are asked to produce that. Maybe your instructors can give you a great reccomendation or friends you know that can attest that you have genuine credentials, etc.

In your case, personally I feel this might be the best route for you to take. Especially, since it's up to the client who they prefet to choose when hiring an sitter. Some client actually find it cheaper and more affordable for them to hire outside of an institution/facility/agency...etc.

So there are possibilities...Are you in the process of becoming a citizen of CA?
I don't know your whole case scenario, however...please exercise the proper channels to pursue your dream with a burning desire and I think you will be very successful in doing so.

Hi. I'm alos a Philippino citizen, in my 40's, and here in Mission Viejo, CA in School. I need a part time job and have nursing training and a BS in acounting with 15 years experience. I would like to find book keeping or caregiving or finance job that I could fit within my schedule. And if it is possible to find a sponsor, then I can work myself out of my student visa status. I hope someone can provide some advice for me.

Sometimes it helps to have a video resume that a potential employer can view or a brief online profile of your experience. i use this social networking site called www.inhomeangels.ning.com. it's specific to the in-home care industry and it give you the opportunity to kind of have a presence on the internet. it just started, but i can see the potential.

GO TO AN AGENCY AND GET A JOB LIKE EVERYONE ELSE LOL

My brother who is 33 years old and a registered nurse wants to work in the USA or Canada either as nurse or caregiver to elderly. He has passed CGFNS and even passed UK credential eval. but the agency for USA is quite slow in processing his group's visa. I want to help him find a direct employer in the USA. He just can't work here in Japan where I am now due to his lack of Nihongo skills. His English skills are excellent as he has worked as Nursing instructor as well. He worked in Dubai for a year, but now is back in Manila to take the NCLEX. He is the right person for hospitals or elderly homes as he is robust and strong. He graduated i the top nursing school in Manila-UST. He cooks good food as well. He has just taken the NCLEX. Please help him land in a job in USA, his dream land.
