Lisa in Oroville, California said: I have 2 duii's on my record and everytime I look for work the backround check gets me. How do you get a way out when you are a good worker but messed up.?? *Contact your local legal aid clinic; contact the court house responsible for processing charges. Go online, call or go in person to find out about expungement requirements -to seal your record and remove from public access. If you Google "expungement" and your state, city, you can probably also find this info. *Find your faith based and community organizations that help those seeking work. Use the state and city workforce development centers. *Go to AA meets, find out how others overcome these challenges; read books, blogs, Internet asking same; write it down--make a Kindle ebook (kdp.amazon.com), sell it, market via Craigslist, your Google Profile; start a meetup.com group--to network about it, charge membership fee, sell your ebook with tips, advice. Get photos from morguefile.com.get marketers, etc from fiverr.com. *Start your own business. Go to the U.S. Small Business Administration. My recollection from all info is that if you incorporate a business, you divorce yourself from your own Social Security number and any bad credit, etc. Once you get the federal tax identification number as part of starting a business--go to the SBA and seek their free assistance with starting a business, financing a business --help with applying for small business loans or micro loans. You might consider also asking about franchises, which would spare you from having to start a biz from scratch. I read over and over this year and before that healthcare related businesses are tops, along with top most--cleaning services. Sitter.com; Care.com are out there. Why not CNA.com? on call CNAs. You could grab sitters and aids posting there but for your city to staff, and find clients. **volunteer. United Way, they have short term opps. Find elderly, healthcare opps |
