Hello all I haven't had the opportunity to read through all the posts to see if this info was already given but there is a website that offers funding for training that is listed on the site. You have to enroll at the one stop career center near you and they will assist you with getting the training you need and depending on what the cost they will pay for the whole thing. I do know that CNA/GNA is free though. Hope you find this info helpful. www.mhec.state.md.us/career/WIA/WIASearch/CountyPgmDesc2.asp?ID=4165 |

billie robinson in Jackson, Mississippi said: I need a job as a caregiver for elderly people.I have several years experience @ See Care.com; Sitter.com; Wyzant.com; Tutor.com - you can post profiles and cross market to reach people, network with them, their friends, family; post an ad across Craigslist linking to your profile(s). Create a Google Profile and insert that you are available for work; post your links to your respect profile. If you use Google Docs, make a resume, but take out details like your name, address, tele, and the names of businesses and their addresses that you formerly worked for, just keep job title, duties, tenure. Insert the link to your Google Profile and links to your respective profiles on Care.com, etc. Then using Google Docs 'publish' button, publish the resume to the Internet, it will go immediately into the Google search engine. If you use Wyzant.com, they offer immediate criminal background check that can be show on your profile. And you can use that fact to demonstrate you had a recent online background check. Not sure what Care.com background check costs. In any event, it's a distinction from competition, and demonstrates your professionalism, seriousness and trustworthiness. And it conveniently saves your potential clients/employers time and money, helps them make quicker hire decisions. |

And I am African American and have never had good experiences with African run businesses...sorry but true. Anyway, people have gone there and basically come away with nothing. Check with the board of nursing before going there. --The same intra-racism that has plagued black people/African Americans rears its ugly head. African Americans have also had not only the mainstream culture but African Americans ridicule and steer clear of their efforts--whether to step up to empower black people with social programs, or start businesses, especially in areas once demeaned as not worth marketing to (like black radio, black TV stations and their broadcasting talent). In fact, U.S. society as a whole only began to get a lesson to destroy the myth that black people have no money--yet, if it were not for black people supporting black businesses and ventures, there would be no Urban League, no Fubu... no Spike Lee... no Denzel Washington making non-stereotypical movies (despite winning Oscar for a stereotype). People all around need to stop disparaging people of color. At the end of the day, trying to pick up a torch doesn't endear a black person to non-black people, at the end of the day, Africa is where you come from. No words or beating up on Africans can change that. In fact, ..non-U.S. black people are often leading the way in business, health care, science, engineering...I have had good interactions with African and African American, and other races all my life. It's not the race, it's the person. Their race is irrelevant. Free your mind. |
