Reyna
I read your add saying that you are paying your nursing classes out of your pocket in Dearbor MI. I saw an add for classes in Dearborn and I am curious if they are good. Since I saw you are looking for other place to train. Can you tell me if the classes are worth the money or should I continue looking for a free train??
THank you

My nursing home I now work at (Dec. will be a year) offered Free CNA Training, we did the clinical's in house. After passing their tests you have the chance to get hired.

After passing your State Boards (which they paid for if you were hired) you received a 1.25 hr raise. And after 90 days you get a 150.00 bonus on your check. After nine months you get another 150.00 bonus.

But they have quit offering the classes because too many people would wait til they passed the state boards then go else where for work.

So just for anyone that get's their CNA Training for free please stay with your nursing home at least for a year anyway. Be loyal to the company that trains you.

Looking into getting CNA training in NJ. Had been working in child
care. I left to care for my mother full-time at home, she passed away in May. I am still unemployed because the thought of going back
into child care does not interest me any longer. Anyway, any information would be helpful.
thanks,
Laura

Did you find training yet? If you still need the info...The School Of Caring in Dyersburg offers a 12 week course that meets on Saturday only at a church. The instructor is the Assistant Director of Nursing at a local Nursing Home. She is quite knowledgeable and very patient with those of us who don't have a clue. There is financial assistance through a program called WIA through Workforce Development(I still call it the unemployment office). You have to take a TABE test and a key test but they are really just general aptitude tests and then they will pay for the course.

i passed my state licensing exam in Fl on 10/13 thanks to CNASARASOTA which i believe is the best CNA course aroung. Here's why: Small classes, plenty of one on one instruction, their sincere wish for their student's success, their open door policy allowing the student to return to class as often as desired, their compassionate and fun style of teaching evem made someone like me who is prone to performance anxiety to feel very comfortable. this course is a winner. If anyone responds to this I will gladly speak with you. They even worked out a payment plan.

For the "free" training for CNA in Dyersburg, Tennessee and surrounding counties, you first have to contact Lucretia Birmingham @ The School of Caring. You have to pay $15 for a drug screen & $40 for a background check (both are non refundable) to gain acceptance to the school. At that point you take your acceptance letter to Workforce Development(the old unemployment office) and someone who specializes in the WIA (workforce investment act - much like the old JTPA program) will schedule you an appointment to take the TABE test. It's really a basic aptitude test and you can study for it on this website: www.testprepreview.com/tabe_practice.htm
After you pass that test, the WIA specialist will schedule you for the KEY TEST and it's done on the computer-basic math, comprehension and locating info. After you have completed both of the test successfully the WIA program pays 100% of the course & gives you a gas reinbursement to help with that expense. Otherwise the course costs about $800.
Hope this helps you.

April in Brooklyn, Maryland said: I am interested in changing my career to nursing. My student loans are in default. I have no financial assistance to go back to school. I am unemployed. Does anyone know of any nursing schools that allow on the job training in Baltimore, MD?

What I did was got out the yellow pages and called all the hospitals near where I live and found a couple of hospitals that have a nursing program and will hire you to work in the hospital in return for the education in nursing....try it. Let me know what happens.

And don't forget that there are places on the internet that are free, as well as, in the library, that will help you prepare for the CNA exam. There are loads of places that don't charge anything to help you prep for it. Try your local employment development office for free test prep info. If they don't have it, ask someone at the front desk which office does. Now, just remember, you might get a lot of 'I don't know's' from some of the people in the employment development department. Though most of them are recent college grads and haven't a clue yet as to what's really going on, they really do mean well. I had to teach my local employment development assistant how to use the office literature to get accurate information about specific job criteria. She hadn't been there but 6 months and hadn't even touched one of the training manuals directly outside the door of her cubicle. I hated to show her up, but you could teach a monkey to do her job. Just don't forget that either out there in the working world of CNAism. You really gotta know your stuff. If you don't, use some really big CNA words and make it sound like you do. It will take you to the top in your profession. Nevertheless, best of luck and God Bless.
