REASONS: More internet business, less brick and mortar, less street traffic, tougher environmental laws, automation, manufacturing shipped overseas, declining wages, illegal immigrants, broke government, etc.

Half the job ads you see are bogus. A lot of employers are playing games, digging for information, or just flat out getting back at people. Respectively: “Front” for the government, competitors, and/or the general public; “Information” pertaining to competitors, clients, and/or wages; “Disgruntled Employers” getting back at job applicants just to rub their nose in it and drag them through the dirt. For those employers who are hiring, it’s all about dirt cheap wages, or slavery, cherry picking and discriminating. Let me tell you about discrimination. It’s ballooned into something sinister and to way beyond what the law bounds everyone to. Amendments! We need amendments.

Contract jobs? Good luck keeping anything past six months. In this climate, employers won’t hesitate to let people go at the drop of a hat. So, think twice about taking a contract job a thousand miles away. Think twice before you get stuck with paying living expenses for two places.

Clarification: Discrimination was bad anyway, but it got worse. And also, in addition to, “Front” for clients. On another note, civil engineering is corrupt and the “politics” stink. If you’re honest, you won’t make friends in this field. It’s actually the entire AEC industry (architecture, engineering, and construction), and you may as well throw in Real Estate, government organizations, and vendors, too. It’s all corrupt. It’s a “mean” and "dishonest" business/industry.

Even more key terms under the corrupt list: Corporations, "property management," unfriendliness, mean spirited. I could probably go on, but I won’t. Feel free to add your two cents.
