hi Dipaul, Thanx for sharing the encouraging replies in the post. Its not that easy to enter in clinical research as coordinator or associate. I have MS in pharma science from US and I have been trying for a long time to get into clinical but no luck so far. |

sumit khanna in Plainsboro, New Jersey said: i am very much interested in mc master cra program. does anybody know the career prospects after doing this certificate course If you are in USA (NJ) then you should join a CRO organisation who can give you a job and then write SoCRA or ACRP exams without much of theory training. In Canada getting a job without experience is almost impossible and there are no Contract Research Organisation (CRO) who has a structured training program and paid apperentship. |

VJ in Brampton, Ontario said: I would still continue with McMaster. Of course McMaster do not garantee any job/ offer or any Coop programme. University education is university education. If you still did not get a job you can then join a Contract Research Organisation (CRO) paid or volunteer or Co-op and then get a a real job. I saw their program, it's very simple, not "university" level. Humber has a better program. Every year they graduate about 30-35 students in Clinical Research Program, and just a few of them couldn't find a job (nobody knows why & what would happened if they went to another program, probably the same result). |

john in New York, New York said: beware of bogus marketing from this people, who is vj in bramprton, michelle santoro etc No. I do not work for Mc Master University nor suggest any one to join Mc Master University. I only give my personal opinion and share my experience. I am just a student of CCRA program at this university. McMaster University need not advertise for students. It is one of the standard Universities in Canada. |

sumit khanna in Plainsboro, New Jersey 46 months ago |
I completely agree with VJ. MC master doesnt need to advertise. |

Hello everyone, My background so far has been in academic research, but I would like to make a career switch into clin research, especially interested in CRO's and outsourcing? Are there programs or training courses in US where I can learn about clin research with good chance of acquiring a job with CRO such as Quintiles, Parexel, PPD etc?? What is Kriger? |

kelly in Toronto, Ontario said: I took the Clinical Research Course at Humber and I would highly recommend it. Learn alot and are really prepared to go out into the field. Everyone got a job placement at the end for co-op and iwould say 90% of the people were hired by those placements. Placements were for pharma companies, CROs, and hospitals. Hi Kelly

VJ in Brampton, Ontario said: Toronto and Montreal. Vancuver and Helifax is also picking up. As I know, in Toronto & Montreal HUNDREDS of CRAs are looking for a job. Vancouver & Edmonton (Alberta) are better places, much more opened positions, they grow up in clin res field very dramatically over the past few years. |

Sumit Khanna in Plainsboro, New Jersey said: Hi Asmi, If you are a Pharma graduate a course in CRA is not required. In US I believe there are CRO organisation which offer a training program and paid internship. There was one CRO company from NJ which gave info about this training. Go back and read the thread a few weeks ago. |
|
Sumit Khanna in Plainsboro, New Jersey 46 months ago |
Hi Vj, Thanks for replying. But they offer only paid internship and moreover its not reliable. thanks |

AnaS in Mississauga, Ontario said: Hi Sam, I have a question regarding your experience with Humber college. I am doing the full time course there this fall and now I am really worried as to whether its good or not. Most of the people said it was good but how can I get experience when I just graduate. did you do the part-time course or the full-time one? If it was the full-time one then did the internship not help you at all? I am worried that I will do this course and then not get a job and basically will be set back again. please let me know what you think. thanks |

Humber is a best program in clinical research but the program is run by a program coodinator who herself has no experience with in canadian clinical research and she is prejudices and above all all internship resume go through her (offen student dont know weather there resume is screen out by her for unknown reason) and student get interview call or selection(she can switch among student job offer by saying to employer that the selected studeny has already accepted offer some where else so the employer can select the 2 or the 3 choice) all through her, so she display her prejudices game at that time, and then the student who suffer realize her mentality. |

None of this is a true, it seems like you don't know what you are talking about. If you didn't get an internship, I would suggest you first look within your weaknesses, whether it is your resume or whatever else, before blaming someone else. The responsibility of finding internships for students is placed with a person who is in charge of it, and nobody else. |

You could apply for Research/ Assistant/ Technician/ Technologist in any research laboratory in University of Toronto, York etc and get trained in Molecular Biology and then move on. There are also many positions available in many hospitals in Research Section. The posts are not necessarly adverstised. So you need to meet the PI/Professor in person and then talk to them with your resume |
