I am trying to decide between Michener and Humber I know a few people who are working as cra's and have that certification. Out of all the online courses i think its probably the only one that has some weightage in the industry. |

I have also done my m.sc. in biotechnology from india so i dont see any reason why that would be a problem as long as you have passed the required courses. Then there is also the written test and the interview. |

Hi Alam, I have completed my M.S. in pharma from US and planning to settle down in Ontario. Could you please tell me the job market there. if possible could you please send ur email id. thanks |

Alam in Toronto, Ontario 42 months ago |
Sumit Kumar in Plainsboro, New Jersey said: Hi Alam, Hi Sumit, I am afraid i wont be of much help to you, all i have figured out so far is that without canadian experience nobody hires you, doesnt matter how much of non-canadian education or work experience you have. Thats the only reason i am going for the cra course at humber. Maybe by next year ill be able to answer this for, for now ill leave this question open for people who are actually working in the industry. |

sharon in Mississauga, Ontario said: Hey alam I hve also done my m.s in biotechnology from india n hve jus recently moved to canada.Good to hear dat frm you too.I hev also surveyed a lot dat without canadian education n experience nobody hire s you here.Thnkx for d info abt humber n i wanted to knw dat did humber college evaluated your degrees from India for admission in CRA or you planned out smthng yourself??? If you want you can get your education evaluation done by either of the three places here, one is wes second is through the comparative education of university of toronto, third one i dont remember. The evaluation done through them is accepted by most places. but heres the catch, you application for humber goes through ocas and they have to do their own evaluation as they dont accept any of these. basically they just want your money so i think if you only want to apply for humber dont get it evaluated from anywhere just apply through ocas and then ask your university to forward your official transcripts in a sealed and envelope to ocas. thats pretty much it for your education evaluation. also the ocas evaluation is around $100 which is cheaper compared to wes which is around $200. |

Tamara in Toronto, Ontario said: As I know, in Toronto & Montreal HUNDREDS of CRAs are looking for a job. Vancouver & Edmonton (Alberta) are better places, much more opened positions, they grow up in clin res field very dramatically over the past few years. Hello Tamara, I did not imagine that situation with employment is so critical. On the college website the employment rate is stated to be "close to 100%". Or the majority of these jobseekers are from other institutions? For you further career in Clinica Research I think it would be good to proceed with MS in epidemiology in London School of Hygiene and Public Health - it is the best one and they have online courses Good luck |

Sergei in Holmestrand, Norway said: Hello Tamara, Actually, we were talking about the situation in the field in general. That’s why those, who have education and experience, have better chances. P.S. Do we know each other? |

Actually, we were talking about the situation in the field in general. Understood. And how do you evaluate the chances of Humber graduate? Is it really close to 100%? P.S. Do we know each other? No, I was just reading the entire topic and came across the issue that you raised about the MS program. A while ago I spoke to some people in clinical research in Canada who indeed value this MS epi course from Londom school since it uses same tools, methods etc... and gives some extra chances for future career. And this is online course that can be done from any location. I was thinking of taking it, but unfortunately it is too costly - almost 20K. Also thinking about this program in Humber. |

Kamlesh in Little Rock, Arkansas said: I am a physician with MBA, I want to start my own business in clinical research. Any experience in this area, I need some guidence Hello, Kamlesh in Little Rock. You need to figure out was area you want to specialize in and contact the maker of that medication. You also need to go to centerwatch.org and the FDA website and read up on the regulartory part of research. Research is not just about the money it's more than seeing patients you have the know the FDA REGS. Most pharmaceutical companies will assign you a monitor and it's the job of the monitor to make sure you are compliant with the study. Just to give you a some insight. I worked on a study for a pharmacy co. I enrolled 22 patients with 15 visits each. The study lasted for 2years we received 18,000 per pt. you do the math. Less then 30% of the 18,000 went to labs ect. the rest went into the clinic I worked for. I hope this will help a little. |

Go to www.centerwatch.org and look through their website also go to the NIH website. contact the maker of the medicine you write scripts for. Talk to the drug reps ask if there company does research. Just to let you know drug reps are to have nothing to do with research but just ask and maybe they can guide you in the right direction. I hope this information help you. I also hope you really interested in research which is finding the cure and not just the money. |

I have over 2 yrs of experience as a CRA in India. I am aspiring to work in Canada. Can anyone guide me with this? Is it a must to have a valid work permit to apply for any available position? Do you have information on any consultancy which provides assistance with employment in Canada or any sponsor or CRO who will sponsor the candidate? |

If you have 2 years experience in CRA you need to take the CCRC or CCRA exam which certifies you as a CLINICAL ACRP website to find out when the next exam is. You will find it a lot easier for you to get a research job. If it were me I would go for the CCRA which certifies you for a monitor position. |
