I see many threads asking where one can obtain CNA training for their area or where to get re-certified. While you're waiting on a reply from fellow posters in your area, you probably can find the information out yourself by:

1. Google (or whichever search provider you use) "state approved nurse aide training programs" and put in your state at the end of the word "programs". Don't put quotations around your search though because it might limit your results. I put them here for easier clarification.

2. Calling your local technical college, hospital, and nursing homes to see if they offer the program.

3. Check the phone book under Schools / Instructional Training / Healthcare / Education and other such keywords.

4. Ask the healthcare professionals at your doctor's office if they know of any training programs.

5. Call or do a web search for your local Dept of Labor and see if they know of healthcare training programs.

6. Look up the Board of Nursing for your state. Although CNA is not a nursing position, you may be able to find accredited schools through the BON.

7. Go to www.pearsonvue.com and select the appropriate category and program. You'll find out just from this one site if your state uses them for their CNA testing. Contact the number in the handbook and ask them if they have a listing of accredited schools.

8. If you live in GA, here is a valuable link: www.ghp.georgia.gov/wps/output/en_US/private/MyWorkspace/PDF/PrgApproved.pdf

Happy researching and Good Luck!

I also forgot to add that your local American Red Cross might also offer the training so check with them too. If anyone knows of any other places to check, please post.

You can also check www.4cnas.com They provide a free listing of schools that offer CNA Training programs. You can also contact the state regsitry for a listing of accredited CNA Training programs in your area. The contact information for the state registries can also be found on this site.
