I'm new to the IT field and the only training I got is from a career college who paid for the A+ certification exams which was $300. On the tests, I remember there being hardware, software, and basic networking questions. Took 90 minutes to complete and I passed. I earned a diploma from the school in Computer Networking and my A+ certification. The training and classes was very good and easy for someone wanting a career in IT and got a photographic memory like me. Right now, I'm trying to get a job as a computer technician with only A+. I'm trying to get hired on at a local university. That's the only place that hire new techies in this area in the IT field.

The certifications you need to be a computer tech in my area
is A+ and MCSE certifications. When you pass one MS cert, you are automatically MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) certified. To be an effective computer tech, it depends on quality of the schooling you took, how experienced you are as a computer technician, how really good of a computer tech you are, and your certs. To be a very good computer technician, you need to have good oral communication and people skills, computer skills, be a good listener, a good problem solver, and troubleshooter. There are a variety of career paths one can take after getting experience in as a computer tech. Three
or four years of being a computer tech can help you get a really good paying System or Network Administrator job with the MCSE. Overall, you HAVE IT experience over the other 200+ new geeks who have applied for that System or Network Administrator position because you got your start in the IT field as a computer technician.

I am working as PC Technician, i am having 4yrs of experience in PC. I have A+ and Cisco, i do attend courses like MS Window 2003 Server in SouthAfrica for two months and my ministry always sent me for course to update and familize myself with new technology

My question is what exactlly that you need to be call a PC Technician and what are the job discribtion for PC Technician? because sometime you find me do administrator work and sometime do even designer or networking things. please reply me pls i am confuse

They want you to shell out thousands of dollars to get these certifications; even the oldest of certifications I trained myself ever since I was three years old
