How did you get your start doing Corporate Paralegal work, and what career moves did you make to get to your current position? Do you need a particular educational background? |

Firstly- I am going to answer this question based upon this forum being "working for in-house counsel in a corporation (as opposed to law firm). Myself, I had worked in the mortgage banking industry 4 years, then went to Paralegal school, got my ABA Certificate. (already had B.A.) After getting experience working in law firms- about 4yrs- I answered and ad in the newspaper. They called and told me they were looking for a Paralegal in the corporation (in-house counsel). The company bought and sold mortgages on the secondary market. FOR ONCE- they put 2 and 2 together, tokk my mortgage experience and paralegal experience as a whole and I got the job. I did contract review, draftd coorporate resoutions, as an example of the work I performed for this corporation. |

It may not be required for a paralegal certificate, but it's also a good idea to complete an internship in this particular area of law. |
