R. Whitecloud said: I live here in Menifee California, I am going to try out for the correctional department as a youth correctional officer. My question is; I had very good credit up until this year when I could not get a job and I still as of this date 10/11/2008 have no job because of the freeze on the jobs here. My credit scores four months ago was 790 and now there 500 or lower. I had never missed a payment. How will this hurt me when the correctional department do the background check and see that. I lived in Va for four years from 2005 to 2008 may, I had to quick my job to move home to care for my parents, and I got here and the gov. put a freez on the jobs. ever sence I have not worked. I have my B.S. Degree in criminal justice, so getting a below pay job is very hard for me. I worry about not being pick for the correctional department because of my credit now. any advice?.
Don't be discourage by your financial background, When i apply for CDCR, my credit score were less than 530 and I also have a same situations, but I made sure when I filled out the PHS (personal history statement), I included my credit report and detail income/expense statement as well. Also during the background investigation (usually 3months ~ 12months)you have an advantage of updating your financial. Just face it (more than millions of Californian are facing financial situation) you're not alone. I'm sure you'll get the job, just be honest with them.
