I just completed the large telescopic crane test. NCCCO test was very challenging for an operator for over ten years, ninety percent of the class failed the practical testing. I felt that I accomplished something few could do. As far as I'm concerned I learned more during the class one week long, than i did in ten years on the job. If anything it made me realize how much i didn't know about the job i was doing everyday. I know i am a better operator and a better employee for taking the class. more people should be NCCCo certified and maybe more cranes will stay upright! and less operators and riggers will die!

I am surprised there are not more rigs going over in your area. I can't believe the amount of people in the seat who go take these tests, and bomb them. CCO certified or not if you don't know the job and how to read charts....etc. Get the heck out of the seat.In regards to the tests I thought they were very easy. I think they should be more challenging. I don't understand how you can be in the seat for 1,5,10 years or whatever and go take a test on something you do everyday and have problems or fail these tests. If you are give it up cause you must suck. There are so many good operators out there with out jobs who should be in these seats that other people are in.
