there are alot of progams that have 5 day courses for the cco, All these same courses cost about $2000. Then there are schools that offer 3 to 6 to 12 week courses. I would like to here from anyone that has taken either course. also if you have taken a 5 day school, was enough to pass the written and practical cco? |

Dan I have been a crane operator all my life.(4th generation crane op.) I don't know that right now is the best time to try and get in the business, but if it were me and I was trying to get in the business right now.... I would see if there are any local crane companies looking for oilers (operator apprentice). To my knowledge the 5 day nccco prep coarse is for guys with experience running a crane. Mainly they train you what you need to know to pass the written exam. I'm pretty sure they don't cover training for the practical exam, they just host it. Another thing you need to look into is if all the companies in your area are union. I've heard it can be very hard to get in the unions up there (i'm down in florida). Hope this helped you some, Jake |
