i have read horror stories about dental assistant's interactions with their crazy dentists. is this a good career choice? if not, any suggestions? (there are no hygiene jobs here so i can't do that)

You gotta have the passion for it can you see yourself looking at teeth everyday for the rest of your like LOL. In any job you get the good and the bad usually you read more about the bad stuff then the good stuff. I'm going into my third quarter of Dental Assisting and I really like it. The school I go to has a full working clinic so I get to work on real patients and learned so much. You should find an accredited Dental Assistant program through the American Dental Assisting Association (ADAA) because this assure that you will get hands on experiences with real patient in a working clinic. You can go to the ADAA website to find a school near your area. After this you can go into many things like hygienist, management, restorative, even dental school. As far as crazy dentist well no one is forcing you to stay so if you don't like the person you are working with move on to someone else because you will see the dentist more than your own family so you might as well find someone that you actually like :) Good luck with your career :)
