Just to let everyone know I don't think my school in Illinois was hard to get in to. They have pre-reqs, just get A's or B's, and then you can volunteer in a medical office and get experience and they will give you points. One girl moved here from South Carolina because she knew people here and said it was really hard to get in there. But to me it seems like it's not THAT competitive because the students aren't all A students. Some of them have failed out because they weren't able to or smart enough to pass. We don't have a waiting list either. I think about half of the people who apply get in. |

Jennifer in Houston, Texas said: I am a sophomore in a community college and I am really struggling. My first semester I withdrew from more than half of my classes and I only completed one. My second semester I only completed three classes, I got an IP, F, and a B. I took the IP class over in summer school and got an A. Now I am in fall 2007 and I am regularly attending classes and I will end up with a C, and 2 A's and one F. I have really screwed up and I am getting myself back on track and I just wanted to know do I stand a chance to ever get accepted into a dental hygiene program? I really want to do this profession but I feel that I have messed up all of my chances and I am to late. Someone give me some feedback please. Thanks Hello, I am kind of in the same boat you seemed to be in when u posted this concern about having a chance at getting accepted to a dental hygiene program with your low GPA and I am just curious how things worked out for you? Were you able to eventually get accepted? |

time for a change in Houston, Texas 6 months ago |
I am trying to see if this post is giving much information about the job outlook. On most of the postings I see that it is a part time job with pay of 40k a year. For those working out there, is that the trend? I currently have a full time job, pays well, mid 50's but was looking at a career change and possibly doing the DH program, but from what I am reading it doesn't look promising. Any suggestions or feedback for those out in the field already?? Thanks. |
