maybe some day a hygentist in Denver, Colorado said: Hello I was hoping to see if any one could tell me if it really is 17 months to be a hygentist at concorde in aurora? Yes, it is a 17 month program. It's a crying shame. This includes pre-requisites. All other programs require 2 years of pre-req's and then 2 years of dental hygiene training. The students graduating from this program are poorly prepared. Do not let the faculty at Concorde tell you that you can complete your BS later because none of the credits will transfer to any college or university. The most important information I can give you now is, research the availability of dental hygiene jobs in Denver. You will find that there are no dental hygiene jobs. I would have to agree with the other posts about For Profit schools. They will make it soooo enticing with incredible facilities and friendly staff, but they are offering a sub-standard education. |

I resent the implication that I was poorly trained. I am very well trained and adhere to all universal precautions and OSHA standards whenever I work. I my credits did transfer and I am currently persuimg my bachelors degree. I passed my clinical boards with a 95% and my national boards with an 85%. I'd say those were the earmarks of an education that adequately prepared me for work. |

Hi, I thought that I would get notifications from this board but I guess not...i got on here and saw your post..It is a condensed program. I took all the pre reqs for the DH programs in CO..Personally they were great and very informative but did not apply to to dentistry..Concorde is very expensive..I took all the tests required and scored pretty high..I have now been invited to sit before the DH board for an interview..I would love to go to this school..They have a beautiful new facility and I dont care what others have to say about this program and their teaching abilities..we all have to sit before the same licensure and there is no way that Concorde Aurora would have spent over a million dollars to build this facility to set prospect students up for failure! Good Luck in you endeavors! |

Hey guys. I have taken the Hobet and wonderlic test for the hygiene program in Memphis. They have not called me for my interview yet and classes start July 9... Has anyone had an interview with Lynn Russell the director there for hygiene? I've been a dental assistant mainly for the hygienists at my office for two years And I hope this will help me get in. Also, I scored really good on Both of my test. I really want to become a hygienist I believe that's what God has called me to do. Any advice about hygiene school!!? Thanks in advance! |

30 year vet in Edmonton, Alberta said: This is ridiculous....$54,000. ? Check the job market in your area....please check things out before laying down that money. Although this seems like a lot of money $54,000 includes from start to finish! (pre-reqs included) I am currently in the program and got over $20000 taken off because of some classes that transfer... So compared to JCCC and UMKC this program is worth it!! (JCCC and UMKC DO NOT include books, scrubs and the cost of boards in their tuition... Concorde does!) It is so nice to know that the $54,000 is it!! There will be no surprises later in the program |

Do u have to find your own patients? Or school provide them for the students . How about Board Patient? I have heard qualified Board patient is not easy to find |
|
d in Lake Forest, California 18 days ago |
Yes, you have to find your patients. The school hardly has any. Also, to get patients, we have had to pay for their services. It is ridiculous. Yes, you need to find a board patient and that can cost up into the hundreds for the day. Finding a board patient is pretty common in both hygiene and dentistry. |
|
Futurerdh in Murrieta, California 18 days ago |
Thank you so much, d. How many patients do I need? So I can set up some fund for them. Hopefully my student loan will cover this cost. |
|
d in Lake Forest, California 18 days ago |
I think you need about 72 patients. The school will have a couple for you. It depends on how well the school is trying to get patients for their students. The school doesn't say you have to pay, but I have found that if you don't offer it for free, it is harder to get patients. I would put aside 40-50 a week while you are in the first three semesters and that should help with the costs. Hopefully, you won't have to pay and you will get all the patients you need. Start telling your friends, family members and co-workers about the cleanings you will need to be doing. |

MrHygienist in Southaven, Mississippi 18 days ago |
I graduated without having to pay any patients, its a service to them why pay them. We usually waived the fee for them. Board patients are hard to find because of the qualification, but if you can contact any recent grads thats working in private practice, they'll be able to help. Also I went to the memphis campus and they NEVER bused homeless anything for us. That must be new! |

It is not just about passing a written test or scaling. That is just a small part of Dental Hygiene treatment. Good luck on finding jobs down the road. There are no more Dental Schools then there was 20 years ago but 50 times the hygiene schools. What do you think that means for the future. |

Remember, that dentists can also clean teeth. Many dentists do that and don't need hygienists. As the DH profession gets more recognized, I know of many dentists now hiring hygienists to do their cleanings. As far as jobs....there are a lot of professions that recent grads can't find work. It is not just hygiene. I know of people with 4-year degrees that can't find work. Just take a look at the news. It is just like teachers....right now there are not that many jobs, but as people retire, jobs open up.

Is it hard to find patients? Do I have to get 72 patients before graduation? I have heard San Diego campus provide patients to their students, is it true? I'm closer to San bernardino and don'tind to drive to SD if I don't have to worry about finding patients. Thanks. |

Hey MaybeOneDayRDH in San Antonio, Texas said: Well I just had my interview recently, and it went really well, but I keep hearing bad things about Concorde and how it's hard for graduates of the Dental Hygiene program to find jobs and it is REALLY expensive, the UT Health Science Center is only 22,000 and at Concorde it's 55! I'm nervous now...if anyone can let me know their views on this, if they have recently graduated or are attending Concorde now. I would really appreciate it! |
