Hey i just did the POC of exam and its pretty straight forward the answers are in the guidelines they give you. As for the clinical i failed i got 71%. I dont know what kind of patient they are looking for. I am flying from alberta to cali just to do this. If i could get some pointers that would be awesome. Do a lot of ppl pass the clinical.

I'm in the process of taking my POC soon. It's been over 20 years since I took my boards. Any study material suggestions would be a great help.

Hi,
We are relocating to the Phoenix area in the next 6 months. How difficult is it to find an RDH job there? I have 9 years of experience and I know I will have to become anesthesia certified. There are a lot more jobs advertised there than where we are coming from, so I am a little more optimistic.
Any advice would be helpful!!

Hi Michelle,

Welcome to Phoenix!! There are some hygiene jobs here, but I wouldn't say many. I've been a hygienist for 2 years and I tempted for the first 6 months out of school and got lucky and found a good office. I do still get calls all the time to temp though, so at least you can do that until you find something permanent. Out here it is important to be anesthesia certified though since we do it all the time...even for the DDS sometimes if I see the patient first. I'm also getting laser certified just to add more skills. Good luck and welcome.

I moved to Phoenix from Canada. I am not thrilled about having to do WREB clinical and the fact there isn't another here till next spring. Apparently I will be travelling and praying I can coordinate to find a patient wherever I end up doing that clinical.

For those who passed what or how did you study, just the Basset book or malamed or both? Also what was the clinical portion like? It seemed like quite a few girls at my testing site had to retake part of it. Thanks for any advice I'm just super frustrated I did very well on my National Boards and just want to be done with all this testing.

I was in your same position and retook the anesthesia portion at USC, I originally studied malamed and then found out about basset. I felt that basset was easier to follow and it had questions at the end of each chapter that help tremendously!

Thanks for the study guide!!!

I am studying fomr Malamed(which is the book we used in canada for our LA course). Is there any information not in Malamed that is on the test??

Where is everyone getting there instruments from? Are you buying them? Is there places to rent them?

Thanks in advance!

I just took the clinical two days ago. My first and second submissions didnt qualify because of lack of calculus. I'm freaking out, that's seven points already deducted. Was that what happened with you?
