Hey Mina! I took that class with you and they told me one year. I only asked because I was moving out if state, but still wanted to apply for my license since I was almost done with app process. I had already paid for class when I found out we were moving, so could not get a refund anyway. Maybe call the board and ask them? Good luck!! Kirin |

My boyfriend recently moved to San Francisco and I currently licensed in the state of Iowa. I need to take a STC course before sitting for the California exam. The next course for STC is full at one location and today when speaking on the phone, they said the next available course is in May of 2012. Does anyone know of a STC course coming up in the future? |

Hi Mina, I saw that you just took the STE/anesthesia/NO2 course. Did you go to cali to take these? I am looking into moving there in the next few months and have tried contacting people to no avail. How were the classed? |

I have been looking into everything the past few days and have talked to numerous people. I am trying to get licensed by credentials but am still required to take local anesthesia nitrous oxide and soft tissue curratage. This class is offered in cali in may of 2012. The cost is $3,800. The only place I have found that offers it still off the list is called J productions. It is 3 weekends long and you are required to provide 3 patients for it. My boyfriend lives in the bay area and I am trying g to get out there and it is proving more difficult by the day. Hope this helps. |

I was wondering if we can get certified by other states like Nevada or the rest of WREB states. Do you know if we have the option to take that or Does it have to be taken in the state? also Do you know what documentation they need as a proof of record that we've been working for more than 5 years? I know what you mean, its so discouraging so I was thinking we could possibly just a front desk position for the meantime the month we take the class just to see how they work over there you know? and 3 weeks wouldn't be so bad. if it doesn't work out... i guess we're back to square 1 *shrugs* |

Hi I have recently moved to the san deigo area. I want to try to be licensed by credentials. My question I want to ask you all is about the 5 years of clinical practice prior to applying for a ca license. I have been practicing as an rdh since 1988 (old lady here lol) anyway 16 of those years were full time. 7 years ago I went part time and then had two babies. I continued to work every year in a limited part time capacity and volunteered on the weekends in a free clinic. However each of the past 7 yrs did not total to 750 each. Does anyone know if this counts towards proof of 5 years? I am going to call the board but would rather hear bad news from fellow sisters in hygiene :). Thanks in advance for any advice you can give. I do have to take anes. Nitrous and stc. I took these in 1992 in Oklahoma but moved 4 times and each state didn't allow these until I after moved out of that state ;0. Sorry so long Sbee |

snordh in Carlsbad, California said: I am a hygienist of 13 yrs. My husband is in the military and have had 4 state licenses. 3 I still keep current. With the exception of California, they are all in the WREB. Moving from state to state is stressful and have found that the paper work is the most taxing. The CA STC, anesthesia class was actually a lot of fun. My advise to you new grads is don't sweat the details. Take one step at a time. Finding patients is the easy part. Ask the students on campus. Use each other. I put a flyer at the BX on Travis, AFB and had to turn people away. The instructors are great and want everyone to succeed. The most challenging part is that it is over 3 weekends if you are out of state. My advise is that some people thrive on drama and creating stress. Don't feed into it. Hygiene is a wonderful opportunity and career. I am on facebook if someone wants to find me. Jennifer Midlo Hello there, my husband is also in the military. Our first station together was Travis so I'm very familiar with the area. We reside in Hawaii now. I need to take this course in Sacramento but I'm afraid I won't be able to find tree patients . Any advice!! |

I am taking the course in may as well. I am taking off and staying a Thursday -the following mon then just going for a long weekend the last one. It is driving me crazy but at least I won't have to fly from DE to cali 3 weekends in a row. I won't be moving till about Sept and still need to work. I think this test is a bit ridiculous if you ask me. |

Hi all, I am a 2010 Hygiene graduate from West Virginia. I currently live in the bay area of California and am looking to take the WREB clinical exam in August. I am going to start screening patients in about a month. If anyone knows someone in the area or not too far away it would be greatly appreciated. I will pay the patient for their time. You can e-mail me at wiley11@rocketmail.com |
