Is the difficulty of the program worth it, and how good at science should you be to attempt it? I didn't do very well in science in highschool because i wasn't very interested. |

Dental hygiene is a science-based field. In DH school, we have to take human anatomy and physiology, chemistry, microbiology, orofacial anatomy, pharmacology, etc. There's A LOT more to dental hygiene than chatting with patients and polishing their teeth. Spend some time researching the curriculum/course work for the program you're interested in. Most schools have this listed on their DH program page. Good luck! :) |

It seems that we keep getting the same basic question of :Is Dental Hygiene a good field to pursue? A: If you can spend 30-40,000, don't mind the stress level, are good in science, facts.....and don't mind not being able to find a "regular" work/paycheck when you graduate......not the best choice for employment....P.S. Hard to find the offices offering ben's, med/dent, etc....YES, I KNOW SOME HAVE FOUND THE GOOD PRACTICES...but ....they are in the minority now.... |
