Do you have any tips to help prepare for an upcoming desktop support technician interview?

Are there common interview questions that come up again and again?

To answer your question, a good DST should Not be concerned about "(perceived)" common interview questions, focus mainly on answering Scenario Based questions, such as.....An angry user calls about his inability to print to a Network Printer, what can you tell Him/Her?

These type of questions have multiple answers, including "Customer Support" (The Person is Obviously Upset), "Asking The User Basic Questions" (Getting an Idea of the Problem), "Troubleshooting Skills" (Solving the Problem) and "Following Up" (Preventing Re-occurrences).

Expect to define and give examples how you use it:

-HUBS, SWITCHES AND ROUTERS
-ETHERNET NETWORKS
-TCP/IP
-OSI MODEL
-ACTIVE DIRECTORY
-IP ADDRESSING AND CLASSES
-DEFAULT GATEWAYS
-DHCP
-DNS
-IPCONFIG
-PING
-PATHPING
-TRACEROUTE
-NSLOOKUP
-MICROSOFT W2K3/XP/OFFICE, among other things.....

As far as "Common Questions"....This can be anything and everything, specially my favorite.......What Is Your Greatest Weakness?...."Give Me a Break Pal".

Lots of great resources online to brush up with, Good Luck.
