I am currently beginning a division of OTR trucks pulling end dump trailers. Would like to keep them local but can do OTR as all trucks have 70 in condo and will add trucks as demand requires. All drivers are experienced. Please give me some feedback, anxious to develop this division based in NC. |

well I am in Wichita, Ks . I do not have a lot of experience shifting . I graduated school in 09/20/07 and went to work for a n end dump company. I drove an automatic for about 2500 miles just around these counties. I made a very big mistake . We ran out of work and for 10 days I waited. Then was told there was only 1 day of work next week and I should draw unemployment for a little while.

I currently drive dump trucks and trailers. I have been doing this for 2 years. I work in scrap metal. My best advise to you is diversify. Do not handle only 1 commodity. Every material has it's slow periods. Be able to offer drivers full time work all year round hauling different things. If you ever need a driver in Southern New Jersey area, e-mail me at jordan22604@verizon.net. Just remember, sometimes a tri-axle straight dump can haul materials as effectively and more cost efficiently than a trailer. |

I drive an end dump 32'. Some things are just better off hauled in a dump truck. It is a pain in the ass and not very effective to haul trees in an end dump . well unless the gate swings open I guess. If it raises , the trees tend to get stuck. Something to keep in mind when buying a trailer. |
|
Tom in Cherry Hill, New Jersey 21 months ago |
I definately agree that larger commodities are better handled with an end dump. In my area, we have 45 foot tub trailers that can also handle those very large objects safely. They have a swing style barn door that opens completely out of the way. You may find this option work well. But, I still agree that certain style trucks are BEST suited for certain objects. I was speaking of versatility if you want to handle more than one commodity. |

TO ALL: It seems this post from Al might be a scam. I posted 4 days ago and have heard nothing. It is possible he didn't do the idea. I wouldn't waste your time posting for a job inquiry. Thanks anyway Al.............. |
